HIPAA Privacy Training
Because Medical Physics is included in the UW-affiliated "covered entity", which governs use of certain personal health information (PHI), all Medical Physics students are required to complete HIPAA privacy/security training.
To complete the training, go to UW's HIPAA site. You will be asked to create an account. Once logged into the site, complete UW SMPH training (it is important that you take SMPH's training). Complete the training as a NEW employee (new to the database). The system will then ask you questions regarding your job duties and direct you to the proper modules based on those duties. HIPAA 101, basic training, is required for everyone, and the additional modules depend on your job duties. Once done, a certificate of completion (in PDF format) should be sent to JoAnn Kronberg. Keep a copy of the certificate for your own records.
