Software

Below is a list of all software that is included or available to be installed on Medical Physics network computers. We cannot support any software that does not appear on the list below.

  • 7-Zip - provides compressing and decompressing functionality for .zip, .7z, .tar files and decompressing-only functionality for .rar files (among others).
  • Adobe Reader - allows viewing of .pdf files. Adobe Acrobat, which is used to author or edit .pdf files, must be purchased separately.
  • FIJI - ImageJ image processing software with many included plugins.
  • Filezilla - FTP client with support for SFTP (Secure FTP).
  • GIMP - image editor with many Photoshop-like features: layers, filters, paths, etc.
  • Inkscape - vector graphics editor for use in creating SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) files.
  • IrfanView - image viewer/editor with support for batch processing of images.
  • Matlab 2011 - computing and modeling environment.
  • Microsoft Office - for the authoring of word processing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and databases.
  • Mozilla Firefox - extendable web browser with broad support for third-party plugins.
  • Mozilla Thunderbird - email client with plugin support.
  • PuTTY - SSH and telnet client.
  • Roxio Creator - facilitates the authoring of CD's and DVD's.
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection - the antivirus software of choice for all university computers.
  • TightVNC - remote desktop client.
  • VirtualDub - video capture, compression, and processing utility.
  • VLC Media Player - media player with wide-ranging support for nearly all filetypes.
  • VMWare Player - for running and creating virtual machines.
  • WinSCP - FTP and SFTP client.
  • XMing - X Window Server for accessing CN machines.
