The department typically supports 90-95 percent of students enrolled in the Medical Physics graduate program through departmental or university fellowships, research assistantships, teaching assistantships or NIH-NRSA traineeships. Appointments are most often made at the 1/3 or 1/2 time level. As of July 1, 2010 the stipend for a 50% Research Assistant is $1,700 per month for non-dissertators. Dissertator stipends are at the 60% rate, or $2040/month. Recipients of awards receive tuition remission. They must, however, pay "segregated fees," which are approximately $325 per semester. All university fellowship and assistantship awards include a comprehensive health insurance program.
