Research Ethics Training

All graduate students doing research are expected to take a course in Responsible Conduct of Research. There are 2 options for this work.

  1. Take the Medical Physics course, Ethics in Medical Physics, currently being offered as a 1-credit Special Topics (MP 471) course. The course must be taken for a grade.
  2. Take one of the university-offered research ethics courses. The course must be taken for a grade, and you must receive a passing grade.
  3. Take the online Responsible Conduct of Research course at Learn@UW. To register for the course, use your UW NetID and password to login to Learn@UW. In the upper right corner next to the current date, is a self register option. Click on Self Register and then on Responsible Conduct of Research. This will walk you through a series of verifications. Once you have completed the registration, you have successfully registered for the course. Send the certificate of completion to Deb Torgerson.

The course work must be completed before requesting a warrant for your preliminary exam. When you have completed your course, show your certificate of completion to the Graduate coordinator, Deb Torgerson, who will note this in your course completion record.

Please note, starting September 1, 2012, options A and B (a face-to-face course) will be the only accepted means of fulfilling this requirement in Medical Physics.
