Medical Physics is a branch of applied physics; it uses concepts and methods of physics to help diagnose and treat human disease. The UW Medical Physics Department offers graduate training and education in radiological physics and dosimetry and in functional, anatomical, and interventional medical imaging. Faculty conduct research in biomagnetism, biomedical optics and spectroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), PET, functional brain imaging, ultrasound imaging, elastography, radiation dosimetry, tomotherapy, brachytherapy, high LET particle therapy and image guided therapy.
