Focus Area 5: Open source medical devices

The goal of the Open Source Medical Devices (OSMD) initiative is to promote medical research by making medical technology (hardware and software) available as an open source to research groups around the world. The concept of OSMD is ideally suited to facilitate accelerated introduction of medical technology to developing countries and places with limited research resources. Interested individuals and research groups from around the world are invited to contribute to development of the OSMD technology. Since the design is in the open source domain, everybody can build the systems for their own use.
