Physics Fair

student showing xray sample at a physics fair with middle schoolers

After being cancelled in 2021 and delayed earlier this year due to COVID, the Physics Fair was back in action last Saturday! Being hosted in conjunction with the UW Science Expeditions and featuring the beloved Wonders of Physics Annual Show, the Fair was very well-attended! The Medical Physics table was placed in prime position across from the popular Physics Museum and on the way to the Wonders of Physics Show. Nearly everyone who walked by came over to our table to learn what we were all about! At our table, visitors could explore ultrasound imaging by investigating our gelatin phantoms and determining what objects were imbedded in them! We also brought an x-ray film and x-ray printouts for guests to identify different areas of the body! Thank you to the UW Department of Physics for kindly inviting us to participate and share our physics at their event! Thank you to Lucky Volety, Laura Castaneda Martinez, Joe Whitehead, Yadira Medina-Guevara, Sydney Jupitz, and community member Scott Zimmerman for volunteering their time at this event!
