Catherine Steffel Receives Best in Physics Award for AAPM Abstract

Catherine Steffel, student of Drs. Tomy Varghese and Carol Mitchell, has received a Best in Physics award for her research abstract entitled "Parameters for In-Vivo Quantitative Ultrasound Evaluation of Subresolution Scattering Sources in Carotid Atherosclerotic Plaque." In this work, Catherine computed effective scatterer diameter parameters in plaque in-vivo and related these to ground-truth surgical and histopathology assessments of excised plaque to provide noninvasive insight into plaque vulnerability. She will disseminate this research as an oral presentation at the upcoming 2020 Joint AAPM|COMP Virtual Annual Meeting, and her abstract will be acknowledged in the meeting program and at the time of her presentation. Congratulations, Catherine!
