Professor of Medical Physics, Department of Radiology, Mayo Clinic, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, Minnesota - USA

A compact 3T scanner was developed under an NIH Bioengineering Research Partnership between GE Global Research and Mayo Clinic. Gradient performance of 80 mT/m and 700 T/m/s is demonstrated with a 42-cm inner diameter gradient coil with an asymmetric design. Siting advantages are discussed, as well as countermeasures developed to address gradient non-linearity and linear concomitant fields.
