A Comprehensive Methodology for PET-Based Treatment Response Assessment

Matt Vanderhoek (student of Dr. Robert Jeraj)
Research Assistant, Department of Medical Physics, UW-School of Medicine & Public Health, Madison, WI USA

Positron emission tomography (PET) is increasingly used for assessment of treatment response. However, the overwhelming majority of PET-based treatment response assessment studies fail to adequately characterize tumor response using all the available functional imaging data. We developed a more comprehensive methodology for PET-based treatment response assessment. We applied this methodology to assess response in patients with advanced solid malignancies treated with molecular targeted therapy and patients with hematologic disease receiving chemotherapy.
