Entrepreneurial Activities in Medical Physics: Lessons Learned

The talk will focus on the opportunities and barriers that exist for medical physics
in the healthcare markets. An emphasis will be placed on the following opportunities:
individual contract work, small consulting practices, large consulting practices, software
solutions, equipment development, and vendor relations. Case studies will be used to
identify the successes and barriers of entry for each of the opportunities. An overview of
the operational needs to run a medical physics business will be addressed to include: product or
service, recruitment, professional development, human resources, contracting, financial goals,
growth plan, and exit plan. The talk will also identify new technologies and new processes which
create business opportunities for the medical physicist.

An interactive Question & Answer session will be held at the end of the talk to engage discussions focused
around those interested in pursuing business opportunities in the medical physics space.
