Near Clinical Imaging in the Hybrid Theatre

Tess Reynolds, PhD
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, ACRF Image X Institute, University of Sydney

In the last decade there has been a game-changing proliferation of 3D image guidance on robotic systems; dramatically improving patient outcomes. However, image guidance options remain limited for many challenging surgeries due to patient motion, metal artifacts and the limited 3D field of view. Through an international academic-industry-healthcare partnership, the full potential of robotic imaging is being realized. Syncing imaging hardware with the patient to mitigate patient motion, breaking out of the plane to eliminate metal artifacts and bringing helical imaging to the Hybrid Theatre for extended 3D field of view coverage.
