Dr. Hania Al-Hallaq
At the University of Chicago, Dr. Al-Hallaq is an Associate Professor of Radiation and Cellular Oncology, the Associate Director of the Graduate Program in Medical Physics, and the Director of the Medical Physics Certificate Program.

Imaging protocols and radiation treatments have harnessed the respiratory cycle to optimize image quality and reduce radiation-induced normal tissue toxicities. The role of surface-guided radiotherapy to implement deep-inspiration breath-hold treatments for breast cancer patients, which can reduce organ-at-risk toxicities, will be presented. Next, the application of radiomics to analyze radiation-induced lung toxicities in CT scans taken at breath hold will be described. Finally, the role of medical physicists in implementing clinical innovations and translational research will be summarized.
