The emerging role of radiopharmaceutical dosimetry in the clinical management of patients with metastatic cancer

Ian Marsh, PhD, Therapeutic Medical Physics Resident, Johns Hopkins University
Dr. John Floberg, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Human Oncology, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Radiopharmaceutical therapies are increasingly impacting the clinical care of patients with metastatic cancers, with multiple agents now approved across several cancers, and many more under investigation. Radiopharmaceutical therapies are unique in that they can typically be imaged, and this imaging can be used to calculate an absorbed radiation dose delivered to tumor and organs at risk for a given administered activity. Radiation dosimetry will be critical for optimizing the use of radiopharmaceutical therapies, maximizing their benefit and minimizing risks to patients.
