Moving towards non-uniform dose prescription in whole brain radiotherapy

Whole brain radiotherapy is typically delivered with a homogeneous dose prescription for the entire brain. Currently there is interest in sparing parts of the brain that are both at low risk for metastasis and are believed to be involved with some of the late side effects of this treatment. I will present my recent work on better defining what regions in the brain are at high or low risk for harboring metastases, and using radiobiological modeling I will propose how this information might be exploited.
