Electron beam dosimetry-present status and future direction

Malcolm McEwen, Ph.D
Adjunct Professor of Physics
Department of Physics at Carleton University
Ottawa, Ontario
Canada

The development of standards of aborbed dose for electron beams has lagged somewhat the development of photon beam standards, in terms of the devices, calibration procedures and clinical protocols and this seminar will cover these three topics:

  1. A review of the state-of-art in electron beam standards as practised today,
  2. A discussion of the calibration of ionization chambers in terms of absorbed dose to water.
  3. An outline of the proposals of the Working Group on TG-51 for updating the AAPM's protocol for clinical reference dosimetry

Location: 1335 Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC)

Time: 4:00PM - 5:00PM
