Open-source medical devices (OSMD) concept was initiated with a goal to develop and share ideas and resources among research groups and companies to design medical devices on an open-source platform that are affordable and available to everyone around the world. The first OSMD project is to design an integrated micro-CT/PET/RT system for small animals. The OSMD Conference was held on December 1st, 2011 to discuss about the specifications and design of the first prototype. We will present an overview of the design project along with the engineering specifications of the design and the summary of the Conference.
