Statistical Process Control Techniques for Radiation Therapy QA
Todd Pawlicki, Ph.D. (guest of Dr. Larry DeWerd)
Associate Professor, Director of Medical Physics & Clinical Operations, Department of Radiation Oncology, University of California, San Diego (UCSD) - USA
Control charts were developed in the 1920s as an approach to improve the quality of manufactured products. The charts are used to identify random versus non-random process behavior and have been applied to manufacturing and service industries. In this presentation, the background of control charts will be discussed along with their use in radiotherapy. A review of the literature related to control charts in radiotherapy and potential future applications will be included.
