Catherine Steffel Awarded F31 Grant for Ultrasound of Carotid Plaque Project

Medical Physics graduate student Catherine Steffel, advised by Prof. Carol Mitchell, was recently awarded an F31 grant from the National Institutes of Health for her dissertation project, "In-vivo Quantitative Ultrasound Imaging of Carotid Plaque Validated with 3D Histopathology" (sponsor: Prof. Tomy Varghese, co-sponsor: Prof. Carol Mitchell). The goal of the project is to develop and validate quantitative ultrasound parameters for noninvasive, inexpensive in-vivo evaluation of the tissue composition of carotid plaque.

Congratulations, Catherine!
