Activity Measurement of Unsealed Sources in Nuclear Medicine
Hans Sonke Jans (hosted by Dr. Larry DeWerd)
Assistant Professor, Division of Medical Physics, Medical Physicist, Dept. of Medical Physics, CCI, Department of Oncology, University of Alberta
The activity of radioactive substances administered to patients for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes in nuclear medicine is measured before administration. This measurement is carried out in a well-type ion chamber also known as dose calibrator (DC). This presentation discusses methods for the accurate calibration of DCs; a recently developed concept utilizing an ion chamber dedicated for this purpose is introduced and test results of this chamber will be presented.
